@Jimmer-jammer @Th3solution Hey guys! I'm back now, how were your Christmases? I played a bit more of Sekiro in the interim, beat another mini boss and am now ready to face to the first main boss of the game, I don't know how far I will be able to get/if I will be able to get the platinum but it feels like a fitting epilogue for my FromSoft journey after beating all the mainline Souls/Soulslike games directed by Miyazaki. Sol, be sure to let me know how you get on with DS3 when you get around to it. 😉

What are you playing right now guys? How are your games going?

@Th3solution Also, Sol, are you at all familiar with Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin? I know you're an FF fan and this entry into the franchise is allegedly Souls-influenced, so naturally it's one I'm interested in playing. Do you think it's a game you might be interested in?

@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Christmas was great, thanks! Well, besides dealing with a stomach bug that came through the house 😂

I’m still absorbed in Metaphor ReFantazio. After that I’ll likely finally wrap up the final stretch of Final Fantasy Rebirth.

How was your break? Do you have any Christmas traditions? I suppose a Happy New Years is also warranted!

@Jimmer-jammer Don't eat that Canadian Chicken! 😉
Glad to hear you're enjoying Metaphor: ReFantazio. I was asking Sol, with regard to the FF game, about another game in the series, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Are you familiar with that one as well? I think it may be quite good, due to it's apparent Souls-influence.

Break was fine, thanks, no real Christmas traditions, aside from the usual family interactions and a traditional, non-traditional Christmas meal (Jerk Chicken this year - THAT, you CAN eat). 😉
Hopefully we will all have a Happy New Year in 2025. I don't know what the political situation is like in Canada, but over here we have moved away from the Conservatives into a new Labour era, anyway, I'm not really too interested in politics, but the governments of our respective countries will irrespectively have an influence on the type of year we citizens are going to have, in terms of the things their decisions influence in our day to day lives.

I'm currently listening to Aphex Twin, and my New Year's Resolution is to focus more on Jazz and Hip Hop Music and also continuing focusing on reading, playing guitar and playing video games as my main hobbies and interests from now on and maybe try and watch more films and anime as well - so, hopefully, that means a lot more discussion on here.

I'm still in the process of negotiating my hours for a new voluntary role, and playing Sekiro (just defeated the Great Serpent, as I said elsewhere (and the first Samurai mini-boss and the Chained Ogre before that.) so that's where I'm at.

@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Sounds awesome, man! Jerk chicken mmmmmm… Stranger of Paradise looks cool but I haven’t played it yet. Same team that did Rise of the Ronin and Nioh if I’m not mistaken. I’d like to give it a try some day.

Canada’s opposite at the moment in that the Trudeau Liberals are completely crumbling before our eyes, with a strong leader of the Conservative Party waiting in the wings. I won’t get into my personal feelings but suffice it to say that Trudeau is loooong past his due date and we are in desperate need of a government that can reign in spending be taken seriously on the world stage again.

I finally quit smoking for good, so that’s been a pretty big thing for me. Good luck with all of your artistic aspirations heading into the new year!

@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Yes, I have heard of it. I think it was received with middling reviews but I’m not opposed to trying it some day. I think the FF execution of it appears a little off. There was really weird dialogue from what I heard. “Chaos!” 😅

@BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN Hello sir! (and an even more belated hello to @JohnnyShoulder who I never responded to back in October.. sorry)

I tend to keep up with match reports and highlights of the cricket where I can but I've tickets to Edgbaston for later this year for day 2 against India which I'm hoping should be a good series! Do you have any plans to seen any matches live?

As for games, I finally bought myself round to play Outer Wilds over the Christmas break and have been playing FF7: Rebirth since.

I hope everyone is doing well though; there seem to be plenty of coming and goings on this place but I find it too easy to not keep up with this place with work and trying to entertain and keep my two year old alive these days. Always a couple of hours time in the evening for some PS5 action though

@Thrillho I have been to the cricket a few times but no plans to go this year. It will be interesting to see how the series goes against India given the form that both sides are in at present. I hope it's enjoyable day out. And Hope you enjoy Rebirth!

I love the way that jazz guitar is physical yet not physical. I mean the sound is quite ephemeral, as is all jazz music to a certain extent, you mix the physicality of people playing notes on their instruments with the non-physical, airy sounds of the music to create a juxtaposition. I am referring, specifically, here, to the nature of playing guitar myself, in a personal way, trying to get deeper into the sound as I physically play the notes, but still producing quite an "airy" or transient sound, trying to reach a sort of "base" or "earth" or "ground" like the bottom of a well, you can never quite get to the bottom, but you know it's there! . It exists, but it cannot be grasped.

Jazz guitar has this beautiful paradox—its sound feels both grounded and intangible. As a guitarist, you’re deeply involved in the physical act of playing, but the resulting sound floats and dances, never fully grasped. It's a constant pursuit of something that feels elusive, like reaching the bottom of a well you know is there, but can never touch. The beauty lies in that struggle—the connection between the physicality of playing and the ephemeral quality of the sound.

@siaenko Couldn't have put it better myself. Are you a fellow (guitar) player yourself?

I think that might be a Nintendolife forum
thing @Pizzamorg. It keeps happening with some of the other topics from there showing up every now and again

-EDIT- I changed the Pushsquare part of the link to Nintendolife and it worked

Ah solution found thank you @HallowMoonshadow I'd never even have thought to try that. Does that mean I am good to start a wrestling thread on here? Or should I use the Nintendo Life one?

@PeaceSalad damn… one of the great artists of the 20th (and 21st) century… regardless of medium. I love pretty much everything the guy ever did… very sad news.

I have been listening to a lot electronic music and rnb this morning. Taking a break from jazz and hip hop. Feels good to refresh my head, from time to time.
