I just spent some time with the new map completion feature and wow I thought I had explored quite a bit but clearly I haven't. Back to Huanglong for me as those caskets won't collect themselves.
@themightyant Oh I just wanted to voluntarily leave said quest to spend my waveplates at the time š
Kuro I didn't intend to steal away the suitcase, just let me out! š¤£
@z0d15g0d - Re: Carlotta mats, I need some flowers to ascend her from 50 to 60 but I think they're only available in the new area. I can warp directly to the boss for mats but not the flower shop/region I need. If I activate early area access can I just buy what I need and warp out again?
@Shigurui I'm not too sure if the shop would be open right away if you did that. Some of the shops required that I speak to the shop NPC first before I could access them. Let me know if it works.
@z0d15g0d - I waited it out until I progressed there naturally. Just didn't want to risk going there and getting locked into a new questline or something. All good now.
@z0d15g0d - Seems pretty cool but I only did the intro then got my ascension mats for Carlotta and left. I picked up loads of side and companion quests along the way so I'm working my way through those before I continue there.
@z0d15g0d Iāve basically finished all the new content and am just finalising my builds of Carlotta and Zhezhi, they are super strong together with Shorekeeper and Iām enjoying their rotations. Iāve also finally built Sanhua and am having more fun with Camellya now.
Iāve saved most of the companion quests ever since I knew the PS5 version was coming (e.g. Changli, Zhezhi, Encore, Camellya and Carlottas) so will go back and try and play as those characters while going through them to learn their rotations better.
2.0 has been brilliant so far.
@z0d15g0d One other thing, how are you getting on with the end game content? Tower of Adversity and Tactical Holograms etc.
I can pretty easily get 21-23 stars in Tower of Adversity every fortnite but it seems like a real DPS check to get much more. Without 5-star weapons and character copies this usually seems a bit hard. Though my rotations could certainly be more efficient. But I only miss out on less than one wish every 2 weeks with 21 stars so I donāt mind too much. But Iād like to get 24 more often, above that seems for whales and machines.
How are you getting on?
As for Tactical Holograms there seems to be a massive gulf between level 3 and level 4/5. I can beat them all on lv3 in around 30-60 seconds with no concerns, some of them on lv4 with some effort, but on others at lv4 and all at lv5 they often one shot me. I realise I could just spend time learning all their attacks to perfectly dodge everything but Iām not really a fan of that. How are you finding this?
@themightyant@z0d15g0d - Which 4* characters do you guys recommend I should build? Obviously its a brand new account so I guess I'll need to build at least a couple while playing catch up. This is my current 4* roster..
Also any advice on building MC, or if I should? I currently have RC4 on both Spectro and Havoc. I pretty much benched her at lvl 40 once I got Carlotta and her sig weapon. Cheers fellas.
@themightyant Unfortunately the only healer I have built is Verina so when she runs out of Tower energy I'm pretty stuck. Since I got her really early I didn't invest in Baizhi. She's at S6 now so might as well. I've beaten 2 lv 5 Holograms Aero Gorilla (I've got his attack patterns down) and Crownless. I think the humanoid types are easier as you can see the attack animations coming. You do more damage if you dodge and counter so it's worth learning enemies attack patterns. Even with the new boss I enter it's attack circle while it's spinning and dodge counter the entire animation lol. It doesn't do too much damage so it's fun to test your skills on. The Gorilla has a similar spin attack.
It's pretty clear that 5* characters require their unique weapons to perform optimally but not sure if having them at a higher S rating makes too much of a difference to all of them. Jiyan is S3 but he still performs like S1 since his S2 is only activated as an into skill and his S3 increases crit rate and dmg after using resonance skill which you really shouldn't do with him if you want the more powerful ult.
@Shigurui I'd say it really depends on your play style but Baizhi and Mortefi are a must till newer characters replace them. I haven't unlocked Lumi but played her story mission and she is an absolute beast when she's running. Her flying rat just lasers every thing into oblivion while I ran circles around them. I quite like Aalto's kit it's pretty weird but once you start timing the projectiles he's pretty fun.
EDIT - MC Havoc hits hard but there's better characters available for everything they offer. I mainly use MC for the story progression missions as the enemies aren't too tough for those.
@Shigurui like @z0d15g0d said it depends on your style and who your main DPS characters are. Personally I only really use Mortefi (with Jiyan as he boosts heavy ATK) and Sanhua (with Camellya as she boosts Basic ATK) and Baizhi as a third healer occasionally in ToA. Early game I did use Danjin and Havoc Rover a little but they are only half built and I have moved on.
But which 4-stars to build is account specific. Especially look at what type of damage your main DPS's damage counts as. This can be a little confusing as a characters ultimate may actually count as skill damage (like Carlotta below) or vice versa. It took me a while to figure this out, but is really important. Once you know this you can look at what types of damage each support boosts, usually with their outro skill.
You can discover this both on each characters page in game there are little icons you can click to discover which type of damage they use / boost OR you can go to a site like Prydwen than shows a chart (on the calculations tab for each character) the approximate percentage for each damage type and looking at their outro skill.
For example most of Carlotta's damage is SKILL damage (83.5% according to Prydwen) because her Ult ALSO counts as Skill damage, so you want to get Skill DMG boosts on Echos and pair her with a support that boosts either skill damage, glacio damage or BOTH. Obviously that makes Zhezhi the best fit as she boosts both Skill damage AND Glacio as well as other buffs, though obviously she is a 5-star support.
So which 4-star support to pair with Carlotta? According to guides online both Lumi and Taoqui are good fits for Carlotta as they boost skill damage in different ways, though I don't have either built so can't personally recommend either. e.g.
Lumi's Outro skill gives the next resonator's 38% Resonance Skill DMG Amplification to the next resonator for 10 seconds or until the character is switched.
Taoqui's Outro skill gives the next resonator 38% Resonance Skill DMG Deepen for 14 seconds or until the character is switched.
So obviously you need to use these characters outro's just before going switching into Carlotta and doing her ultimate rotation to get maximium benefit.
What you will probably find over time is that these supports may be replaced by 5-star equivalents, so you may not want to fully build them, but it's worth partially building them so they stay alive but give that 38% boost for now.
Longer term I will be looking for supports that buff each damage type and element to try and round out my account, but if a support does BOTH they are always going to be best in slot.
@z0d15g0d Baizhi is pretty solid. You don't usually need a healer in the first 2 levels of each side of the tower so you can save Verina for the hard Lv4 stuff on each side and use Baizhi in between / Lv2 or 3, she's pretty good, but will no doubt be replaced in due course. But when you need a third team I was in a similar position which was why Shorekeeper was a must pull for me.
BTW Jiyan's S3 actually activates on EITHER the Skill or Ultimate so gives him a pretty large total damage boost (S3 is 137.56% of S0 according to Prydwen). Most 5-star's S6 is around 210% - 240% of S0 this is the sort of DPS check I was talking about for top levels of ToA and challenges, just seems more aggressive than other games, and I don't like the one hit kill nature of some of the challenges. All minor gripes.
Also Jiyan doesn't gain more damage for being at full Forte (60 of 60 resolve), you only need half the Forte bar (30 of 60 resolve) to get the enhanced ultimate so you can start to weave in the Skill into his Ultimate, or before, as long as you are careful not to drop below half (30 resolve) especially as S1 halves it's cost.
Although as his Intro skill usually adds 30 (half bar) if it hits an enemy and his S2 adds another 30 (full bar) which makes rotations and Skill use more flexible upping his DPS. This is tied to his Intro but as the whole game design is built around Intro/Outro skills and buffs that isn't really a problem. His skill is strong and melts enemies.
@themightyant Tactical Holograms usually tailored for a specific resonator, from what I've seen. I've only stopped after 5/4 knowing my limits. Food buffs could help, but personally I've yet bothered with it.
As for higher ToA rewards, they usually aren't meant for us, I've always knew that from the start..
Even Zenless is started doing tweaks in gatekeeping Deadly Assault now - initally started with 9 stars down to 6 stars now.
All that aside, I've been having much fun with Carlotta team in the co-op event, except exclusively in single player mode š
How's the new craftable weapons? Any good?
Been holding off my next standard weapon banner selector for quite a while now while still looking for a suitable gauntlet for Astra Yao's unrelated sibling š
